Two guys immersing themselves in life. From Conversations to Travel to Food and everything in between. A look into what life could be like if we stopped making excuses and went after what makes us happy. Pause and TRY it.
Life Immersed is a visceral experience. Think Parts Unknown meets Tim Ferriss on psychedelics . We aim to combine the story-telling and cinematography of the Anthony Bourdain experience combined with long format conversations a la traditional long format podcasts. We will touch on a variety of topics ranging from the basics of daily routines and self-education to history, food, fashion, music, pop-culture, psychedelics and whatever else may come to mind in the moment. Using the tradition of breaking bread to be a through line as we explore domestic and exotic places alike. Inviting many times the people preparing the food to be guests on the show, along with having wide ranging invitees from all professions. Through these experiences we hope to expand not only our own perspectives but the perspectives of our followers.
A Southern Californian born and raised I grew up a beach kid and obsessed with all things sports.Like many kids I played anything I could get my hands on but as I grew older my focus and skill narrowed and I decided football was the sport for me. Following in my fathers footsteps I accepted an athletic scholarship to attend The Ohio State University and a life long dream was fulfilled. It was in these years that I believe I truly began the journey to what led us to a Life Immersed. As fate would have it due to a variety of reasons, many of my own making... My athletic career abruptly ended after college, this was a massive shock to the system and forced me to search introspectively as to what had gone wrong ?? Like many former teammates and peers I struggled to find my identity and subsequently felt adrift. So I did what most self respecting failed athletes do... I got into sales. Through some good breaks and consistent work ethic I pretty quickly realized success and was well on my to climbing the corporate ladder. To my surprise commission checks, awards & trips while giving me validation in the moment, are short lived excitements. This was a deeply troubling realization as I had always assumed those things would equal fulfillment. I didn't know what but I knew something had to change, so I made directed decision to go all in on self-education, beginning with popular podcasts like The Joe Rogan Experience and The Tim Ferriss Show along with a variety others. Through these episodes the seeds were planted for a more actualized life. I began voraciously consuming information wherever I could, along with committing myself to the practice of mindfulness . It was during this time when I recognized an often unmentioned gap existing in everyones lives during times of large change, but more specifically in athletes transitioning to life after sports. So I set out to create a platform for which we could address these conversations and give athletes the tools to apply the disciplines learned as high level performers to being a high level people. In 2016 I went all in leaving my comfortable sales job and cashing in my 401k... Conscious Athletics was born. I was realizing what life could be like spending my days doing what really made me happy, I had found my calling, interacting with athletes and helping them maximize their potential as people first, and athletes second. However, as life would have it my path was set to diverge again... by early 2018 the funds had run dry and I had met girl. The choices were clear 1. Move home with my parents to continue Conscious Athletics possibly jeopardizing the young relationship(now wife) or 2. Buck up get back into sales where I knew I could make money and feel that comfort of stability again. I chose the latter and back I went into the corporate world, once again realizing success and quickly resuming my ascension of the corporate hierarchy. Which brings us to today... Life Immersed is our journey. Is a life well lived still possible ?? Filled with family, enrichment, growth, experience, and exploration ?? With my good buddy Skevo we will ask these questions and through our education we hope to shed light on what life could be like if you just stopped and tried it.
Welcome friends and strangers alike to life immersed. I’m supposed to tell you who I am so briefly, hopefully here it is. As a kid from a small town outside the old steel city of Youngstown Ohio or as many would call the rust belt I was no stranger to living amongst it all. Due to the new steel industry dating back to the late 1800s immigrants began piling into Youngstown coming from all over the world. My parents came over a little later, however. I am a first generation Greek American. If you’ve ever watched ‘my big fat greek wedding’ all that I’m going to say is yes, yes indeed my father loved and still does love windex. And yes I always had leftovers from my mom’s greek cuisine from the night before for my school lunch. I spent much of my time outside playing sports and playing ding dong ditch and committing other pranks with my friends, as one does growing up in the midwest pre- decent gaming graphics and Tik Tok. All of my friends were for the most part from all different ethnic groups. That is something I take pride in and something that left my pallet never dull. I spent most of my summers visiting grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins in the small island of KALYMNOS Greece. I made many friends there and was fascinated by the way of life. Riding on the back of my greek friends motorcycles, spearfishing, sneaking cigs, eating goat and all things from the sea at a young age. MY eyes became open and my mind curious for more. I feel fortunate to have traveled and experienced a different culture from a kid and it’s something I still hold close to this day (just not the cigs unless it is in good immersive timing hehe). Growing up in the midwest I of-course loved sports, especially football of which I had the opportunity to play at the collegiate level and did so for two years. Once I felt the need to move on from that chapter I then began my journey to Los Angeles. I love the expression aspect of art and had a deep appreciation for barbering and hairstyling alike. So I took the leap of faith and began doing hair. I currently have been working as a hairdresser in Beverly hills for the past six years now. I love talking and learning from people. Every human has a unique story to tell, and in the immersive manner there is no better way to tell the tales than over a table of sharing and breaking bread. I am excited for you to come along on this journey of discovery with us. Immerse yourself in everything you do. Rock on!
